What is SOC 2?
SOC 2 is an auditing standard that tests for strong security controls. To get SOC 2 compliance, an independent auditor checks that a company has proper safeguards in place to protect your data -- things like access controls, secure data storage, backup systems, and secure technical infrastructure. SOC 2 Type II goes further: it verifies that those controls aren't just in place, but have been operating effectively over a sustained period of time.
