[01]

Any window

It reads past the text box.

The inbox you have open counts as much as the email you’re writing. Deep Context reads the whole screen you’re on.

[02]

Code

Identifiers, as written.

Say “task filters” with TaskFilters on screen and that’s what you get. Prompts to Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor keep their names.

[03]

No waiting

It reads while you talk.

Deep Context reads your screen while you speak, so you don’t wait for it. If it isn’t done when you stop, your text goes in without it.

[04]

Dictionary

Works with your Dictionary.

Dictionary keeps the words you add, for every dictation. Deep Context adds the ones on your screen, for the dictation you’re starting.

A glance, not a recording.

Deep Context takes one screenshot as you start dictating, picks out the words you might say, and lets the image go.

  1. [01] Off by default

Off until you turn it on.

Aqua asks during setup, and you can turn Deep Context off in Settings any time. On a Mac, you can also revoke Screen Recording in System Settings.
  2. [02] Not kept

    The image isn’t kept.

Aqua reads the screenshot for words you might say, like names and code, then lets it go. Turn on Privacy Mode and the words it found are redacted too.
  3. [03] Your team

    Your admin can decide.

On Business plans, admins can turn Deep Context on or off for everyone, or let each person choose.

Frequently asked questions.

What is Deep Context?

A setting in the Aqua desktop app for macOS and Windows. When it’s on, Aqua takes a screenshot as you start dictating and picks out names, terms, and code it could mishear, so it can spell them the way they appear on your screen.

Does Aqua record my screen?

No. While Deep Context is on, Aqua takes one screenshot as you start a dictation. Nothing is captured between dictations, and there’s no video.

What happens to the screenshot?

Aqua reads it for words you might say, like names and code, and doesn’t keep the image. The words it found are saved with that session, like your transcript. With Privacy Mode on, they’re redacted along with the transcript.

How do I turn it on or off?

Aqua offers Deep Context during setup, and you can turn it on or off in Settings any time. On a Mac, allow Aqua Voice under Screen & System Audio Recording when macOS asks, then reopen Aqua. You can turn that permission off in System Settings whenever you like.

Does it slow dictation down?

No. Aqua reads the screen while you talk. If it hasn’t finished when you stop, your text is inserted without it.

How is it different from Dictionary?

Dictionary holds the words you add, for every dictation. Deep Context finds words on your screen, for the dictation you’re starting. They work together.

Can my organization control it?

Yes. On Business plans, admins can turn Deep Context on or off for every member, or let each person choose. When it’s on, each device still needs Screen Recording permission.

Which plans include it?

Every plan, including Free. Deep Context is part of the Aqua desktop app on macOS and Windows; the iPhone and Android apps don’t have it.
